Absolutely. Online training can be a convenient way to begin learning karate from home. You can practise fundamental movements, techniques and fitness exercises at your own pace before attending live online classes or progressing further.

Consistency matters more than trying to train for long periods. Regular short sessions can help you develop coordination, technique, fitness and muscle memory. As your confidence improves, you can increase your training frequency

Yes. Premium members who participate in the live online classes can progress through GKR Karate grading and belt levels, subject to the required grading criteria and assessments.

Live & On-Demand Online Karate Classes

Online karate classes allow you to train using live and on-demand lessons through the GKR Online Karate & Fitness Academy. You can train from home or wherever you have a suitable internet connection.

Premium members can attend as many live online classes as they like, there is no weekly limit. Regular training can help develop technique, strength, coordination, speed and endurance.

Karate Belt Progression & Grading

Yes. GKR Premium members who attend the live online classes can progress through the GKR Karate grading system, provided they meet the required grading standards.

Online grading follows specific criteria designed to maintain the standards and integrity of GKR Karate. Students may also need to complete pre-grading assessment classes before undertaking a grading.

Online training can support your progression through the GKR Karate belt journey. Students must demonstrate the required skills, knowledge, technique and commitment at each grading level.

Training Karate at Home

You do not need a large training area. GKR's online training videos are designed to be performed in a standard-sized room, with around a metre of clear space on either side of you being enough to get started.

Not necessarily. Comfortable clothing that gives you plenty of freedom to move is suitable when starting with on-demand classes. As you progress, especially when participating in live classes and grading, a karate uniform may be recommended.

You can get started with very little equipment. You need an internet connection and a suitable device such as a computer, tablet or phone. No specialised equipment is required for many of the online training sessions.

Yes. You can use compatible casting or screen-mirroring options to display the Online Dojo on a larger screen. This can make it easier to follow techniques while training at home.
